Anti Aging TipsPreventing and treating wrinkles requires work both on the inside and outside of our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ, and is easily affected by the nutrients (or lack of nutrients) we put into our system as well as the things such as pollution and UV rays that we expose the outside of our bodies to. Therefore, it requires both internal and external effort to get the smooth, healthy skin we’re looking for. Here are some anti-aging tips to help you look your best.

Be as aware of what goes in your body as what you put on your body. This means to eat plenty of fruits and leafy greens. The antioxidants in these foods help to strengthen skin tissue. Also eat foods high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, like salmon, olive oil and flax seeds. You can also take fish oil supplements if your diet is lacking in the omega fatty acids. This will help protect the top layer of skin that holds moisture in and prevents dry skin. Also reduce your intake of sugar and processed foods. These cause inflammation, which is a disruption in the normal production of skin cells.

Drink plenty of water. At least 6-8 full glasses per day, preferably more. This keeps skin hydrated from the inside out and results in a supple appearance.

Reduce sun exposure. Ultra-violet (UV) rays are the biggest contributing factor to aging skin. Sun causes our skin to lose collagen and elastin, which are the foundational structures of skin cells. This leads to saggy, wrinkled and dry skin. UV exposure also leads to sun spots and creates rough skin.

Use anti-aging skin care products. Look for products that contain additional antioxidants including vitamins A, C and E. These help to protect against the damaging effects of free radicals. Also look for other proven anti-aging ingredients including peptides, hyaluronic acid, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and alpha hydroxy acids. If they contain carrier or essential oils that have been shown to benefit aging skin, that’s a bonus as well.

Consistently follow a good anti-aging skin care routine. If you want to see the best results, then you need to properly care for your skin with your high quality anti-aging skin care products. Cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day. Be sure to apply your anti-aging serum and any other targeted treatments daily as well. Once a week use a gentle exfoliant.
